Gabriella Duca

Chief scientist, President

Gabriella is Human Factors scientis with background in architectural design (Federico II University, Naples), she got her PhD  in Building and environment rehabilitation at Genoa University and got the Eur.Erg. (European Ergonomist) qualification in 2003. Her research interests address the transdisciplinary application of human factors with focus on task analysis & human performance assessment, safety culture, human factors in systems sustainability/efficiency, human-built environment interaction, work spaces & interfaces in safety critical contexts. She has conducted research projects for a variety of private companies and public authorities (full project list here), and has authored and co-authored more than 80 scientific publications. She is a former member (2010-2019) of the national board of SIE Italian Ergonomics Society.

Antonio Di Palma

Project manager, Vice President

Antonio is safety expert in High Reliability Organization and aviation fields, RPAS flight instructor, former Italian Air Force Jet Fighter pilot. He has more than 10 years experience in safety critical operations management, ranging from Civil Protection to aereonautical manufacturing processes. He has contributed to several national and international projects in military and civil context. He is has served as elected member of AINTS (Italian Non Technical Skills Association) national board.

Raffaella Russo

Senior Scientist

Raffaella is a senior research consultant, that served several esearch institutions and Universities (ISSNOVA, University of Salerno, AMRA scarl,). She holds a Master degree in Economics and Finance and is a certified project manager. She has  supported the coordination of several EU research projects such as: H2020 SHEER (SHale gas Exploration and Exploitation induced Risks), H2020 ESPREssO (Enhancing Synergies for disaster PRevention in the EurOpean Union), FP7 REAKT (Strategies and tools for Real Time EArthquake RisK ReducTion) and FP7 CLUVA (CLimate change and Urban Vulnerability in Africa). Presently she is involved in the H2020 S4CE (Science 4 Clean Energy) project according to her managing skills and research experience.
Her research activity is devoted mainly to developing indicators to measure the social and economic impact of some hazardous events and to the identification socio-economic barriers to systems resilience. Her research activity is also devoted to identify the costs and benefits connected with the exploitation  of conventional and unconventional energy resources. In the above mentioned fields she has several scientific publications and has lead WPs, Tasks and deliverables.

Vittorio Sangermano

Senior Scientist

Vittorio is a Human Factors expert, focusing on systemic thinking and human centred design; he is involved in several H2020 projects, such as X-TEAM D2D (eXTEnded AtM for Door2Door travel), INVIRCAT (Investigate IFR RPAS control in airports and TMA), TINDAiR
projects. Vittorio holds a Master’s degree in Science and Technology of Navigation at University of Naples ‘Parthenope’. As an intern at EUROCONTROL at the DECMA/INO/VIF unit within the Directorate European Civil-Military Aviation, he was in charge of preparing, carrying out and analysing Human Factors issues in real time simulation in Air Traffic Management field.

Mariana Oliveira

Senior Scientist

Mariana Oliveira is a Food Engineer with a MSc in Sustainable Indicators at University of Campinas (UNICAMP/Brazil). She was awarded with a Marie Curie Fellowship at the European Union Funded ReTraCE Project during her PhD in Sustainability, Integrated Assessments, and Environmental Indicators at Parthenope University of Napoli. Mariana has also 10 years of experience in processes, project, and people management and quality improvement.

Daniele Palma Esposito

Junior Scientist

Daniele is a junior researcher in transport sustainability. He holds a Master’s degree in Science and Technology of Navigation from the University of Naples ‘Parthenope’, focusing his studies on navigation systems, geomatics, and environmental management in the maritime sector.

Giovanni Gugg

Senior Scientist

Giovanni holds a PhD in Cultural Anthropology, and is lecturer in Urban Anthropology at the Department of Engineering of the University “Federico II” of Naples. He is currently a research fellow at the LESC (Laboratoire d’Ethnologie et de Sociologie Comparative) of the Université Paris Nanterre . His studies concern natural and human-induced disasters and their perception, the relationship between human communities and their environment, especially when dealing with territories at risk, such as Vesuvius and the Italian earthquake areas.

Maria Vittoria Gargiulo

Scientist

Maria Vittoria is a scientist focusing on Natural Sciences and Sustainable Development, Risk Communication, Science Communication, Disaster Risk Resilience, and the Positive Peace Framework. She holds a PhD in Physics from UNISA, with a thesis on neutrino mixing and oscillations in Quantum Field Theory. She has also been involved in European projects and has a broad set of skills including foreign languages, mediation, and leadership in international associations. Her professional and academic experience includes visiting researcher roles, project management, and teaching assistance.

Pia Di Salvo

Management advisor, Founder

Pia is an economist, currently serving as accounting staff member at Federico II (Naples) where she is also served a key staff member of Europe Direct Information Centre based there. Before joining Naples University, she worked at the tender and purchases central office of Perugia University and, for ten years, she was head of director’s staff at the Faculty of Architecture of Second University of Naples, where she monitored and supported technical and financial management of relevant research projects. She serves ad Editorial Secretary of RISE –  Rivista Interdisciplinare di Studi Europei.

Ferdinando Maria Musto

Technical advisor, Founder
Nando is a geologist, research technician and meteorologist at the LUPT Interdepartmental Research Centre of University of Naples Federico II. He is the director of application and experimental laboratory for planning and land conservation. His studies focus on hydraulic risk, mitigation and vulnerability of the territory. He is expert in Geographic Information Systems; applied to several fields (urban planning, geographical, biological, chemical analysis of a territory). He is currently involved in the experimental study of urban heat island in Naples and is scientific expertise covers a wide range of territorial governance related issues, focusing on geological, territorial and environmental impacts, geological hazards, climate hazard and control, risk mitigation.

Stefano Duca

Stefano is a quantitative researcher and senior data scientist at Swissblock Technologies AG. He has a PhD in game theory from ETH Zurich, where he worked in computational social science on cooperation in groups, and holds prior degrees in physics and theoretical/mathematical physics from the University of Naples “Federico II” and LMU/TU Munich. His expertise centres on statistical and mathematical modelling of financial time series, especially in the cryptocurrency domain On his free time Stefano enjoys reading, playing boardgames and hiking.

Amalia Zucaro

Founder, Scientific Advisor
Amalia has an International Ph.D. in Environment, Resources and Sustainable Development. In 2004, she graduated with honours. in Environmental Sciences and in 2011 she achieved the title of Ph.D. at Parthenope University of Naples, Italy. Her research is focused on renewable energy sources, bioenergy and energy related issues, biomass conversions, energy use in agriculture and industrial sector, agro-industrial chains for food, energy and bio-polymers. Her research experiences are in life cycle assessment (LCA), Emergy Analysis, Greenhouse gas (GHG), multi-criteria environmental assessment, Geographic Information System (GIS). She has been involved in research activity of several European projects (Fuel Cell e Hydrogen Guide EU – 7th FP Supporting Action SP1-JTI-FCH.2009.5.5; Synergies in Multi-scale Inter-Linkages of Eco-social systems EU – 7th FP-SSH-2007; Sustainable Use of Photosynthesis Products & Optimum Resource Transformation EU Project within the Framework of the Regional Cooperation Programme “ALFA”; Development and Comparison of Sustainability Indicators EU – 6th FP Research Project) and National research projects (PON-REC EnerBiochem-Project no. 881/Ric and PON-REC BioPolis- project no. 713/Ric). She is a member of the Italian LCA Network and the International Society for the Advancement of Emergy Research (ISAER).

Antonella Frisiello

Scientific Advisor
Antonella is Psychologist and Master in Ergonomics; she is User Experience Researcher at ISMB (www.ismb.it/en), in the Mobile Solutions Research Area, focusing on the design and development of innovative mobile services. Expert in Human Centred Design, she have been participating to National and European research projects, leading user studies, participatory design activities and field trials involving real users and stakeholders. As member of the Human Factors Technical Body of ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute), she participated to standardization projects focusing on the Personalization of ICT products and services and eHealth systems. Since  2003 she collaborate as lecturer at several universities, both national (Università di Torino, Politecnico di Torino) and international ones (Universidad de Vic, Espana, Universidad del Azuay, Ecuador). Sinc  the 2014 is member of the National Board and Regional President of SIE – Italian Society of Ergonomics, promoter and member of the scientific board of WUD – World Usability Day Turin.
